I was reading up on this on the website and one of the reviewers said he got it for $129, but I can't find the silver model on pricewatch or pricegrabber. The black version is a little more, about $170.

It was a good deal, sale was through Mar. 6th.... different receiver on sale this week.

That $149 price should be a recurring sale, +- $10

from the looks of the photo, it looks like this model has no s-video or component inputs, despite the claim of 3 component inputs on the specs (they must have gotten component and composite mixed up). you can spend a little more and get s-video and component switching, such as the onkyo tx-sr501 that was $249 a week ago.

Or look at the KLH r7000 at BB here

I bought it a couple weeks ago on sale for 150 (currently 170). 6.1, 600W, 2 component ins, 4 svid ins, seems to work great!

I dont see a Tuner, the Pioneer has a Tuner with 30 presets.

the klh does have a tuner, comes with a pair of cheap antennas and seems to work fine. I'm not a big radio listener, so I haven't played with it much.

As for quality, it's been fine so far (only had it a few weeks). I'm a light user, just driving some small speakers. Currently have a dvd player hooked up via digital coax, but it'll be replaced by my HTPC when I get that built in a couple weeks.

for some reason i don't trust klh, they seem like the cheap alternative to everything else but the sacrifice is quality for example their speakers.

LOL, a $250~2500 receiver is better than one $150? Go figure.
Point being, for $150 this is probably as good as it gets barring some kind of special one-time clearances. Anybody know of a better receiver that's currently near $150? That would be a lot more useful info.

Yep, that was a misprint, no component switching.

TX-SR500 Home Theater Receiver Factory Refurbished by Onkyo
OOS. But there's still a few decent cheap refurbed receivers on eCost, like this $88

Do a search (both here and FW) and you will find some huge threads where people got these Onkyo refurbs and none of them had problems. I've had mine for about a year and it's been perfect. Onkyo provides great customer support as well.

I got this over christmas (silver) for 129 AR, it is nice for movies, but does not have S-video or component. But if you are like me and you don't route your video through your surround sound receiver, it works great. You need a pretty strong signal to get good volume. I tried to run sound through a vcr into the surround, no dice. Needed optical hookups to get decent volume. Good deal though.
