Ok, so my DVD writer, a Pioneer A06 (4x write speed, DVD-R/RW, ancient by October 2004's standards) just crapped out on me the other night. I showed my friend the error and he mentioned he had the same thing with his A04 and all you had to do was just take it apart and clean the lense with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol.
So I did this. Doing so cut the warranty sticker. I couldn't send it back, but I figured worst case scenario...it doesn't work and I'm "forced" to get a 16x DL burner. Well now it's even weirder. I put it back in and it gets to EXACTLY 76% of a burn in either Stomp or DVD Decrypter. DVDD gives me this message.

I already ordered a new drive, but if I could salvage this one, that would be great. Any ideas as to what it means?
