Pioneer 106S Slot DVD

Is this a decent quality DVD drive? I invite any opinions/comments/experiences, or suggestions for other drives. I prefer EIDE/Atapi. Thanks much.

i suggest you look into the aopen 1640 pro dvd drives, it's the same as a pioneer 106s drive, except it comes in a retail box so you know it's new & it' alittle quieter when reading cdroms than a pioneer, i had a 10x pioneer & still decided to upgrade to this. $95 at multiwave, very good price for this drive.

Has anyone purchased this drive? Running CDSpeed 99, mine starts at 16x and stays at 16x through-out the whole disc when reading CD-ROMs. Isn't this supposed to get up to 40x? Another thing is CDSpeed 99 reports that it is a CLV drive when the DVD-116 gets up to 46x and is a CAV drive. Any thoughts on this?
