Pioneer 106S DVD Speed Control Utility

I have a Pioneer 106 DVD drive, and found the speed control utility on the pioneer web site. However, when I try to set the speed, it doesn't do anything, and just reverts to maximum speed. I'm using Win XP pro. Anybody else try this utility and get it to actually work?

That's strange. It works fine for me. I set mine to permanent slow. IMO, that utility increases the drives value at least 2x.

Hmm... too bad I can't get it to do anything. When I change the settings, it says something about stopping the spindle (which it doesn't do), and if I click drive information, it tells me it's in performance mode. I've tried everything.

Guess I'm just SOL. :-(
