Pink screen with 8800GT

Q6600 @ 3.0GHz
2GB RAM
XFX 8800GT default settings

It has been running stable since I built the system a month ago. Then today while I was playing WoW my screen turns solid pink. All my applications continued to run as I could hear my music and the game sounds still. Turning off the monitor and back on did nothing. So I restart the computer and everything is normal again, no pink screen. So far so good. Any ideas as to what could have caused this? Hopefully it was a one-time thing.. I'm almost positive heat is not the issue, its like 65 degrees in my apartment and I've never had problems before.

Thanks

Pink, as in, solid pink?

Could just be an error somewhere or slight overheat. If you restarted and all was well, i'd keep my eyes open for things, but i wouldn't be overly worried unless it starts happening every so often.

A one time thing, can be just that, a one time thing.

you video card has pink eye...

No I am kidding... I have seen pink screens often. It was ALWAYS due to a defective connection... most often in the CABLE... replace/tightening the cable fixes it.
Now you had a weird thing where restarting the computer made it go away... While that indicates some other sort of problem it doesn't necessarily rule out a cable, since pressing the power button "moves" the computer just enough for a connection to go from bad to good...

There is a simple test really, start giggling the cord while in windows and see if the screen turns pink, if so you have found your culprit... Otherwise it might just be some software bug and or driver issue. If you keep on getting it you can always RMA the card.

The cable was one of the first things I checked, it was tight as could be. And I did a software restart via windows (windows key + up + enter + R) even though I couldnt see anything but a solid pink screen. So I didnt move the cable just enough to fix it or anything.

Interesting though, I'm going to keep an eye on it and will probably RMA the card if it starts happening more often. Was posting here to see if certain cards were notorious for doing this or something. But yes, when I say the screen turned pink, it was a solid pink color, nothing more, nothing less.

oh, solid pink is completely different, I Thought you mean it displayed stuff with a pink hue to it...

A wire problem will either cause the screen to be blank (completely disconnected), or display everything clearly in an off color.

Solid pink means your card crashed, hard. check the termperatures... consider increasing the fan speed with riva tuner.
