Hello,

I just built an Athlon 950 and I am having the following problems. My screen flickers pink at times and then finally everything has a pink hue. I shut the monitor off and unplug it from the pc. When I pulg it back in, it is still in the same state. I also get white dots on my desktop and vertical lines where the video is degrading. A refresh does nothing, switching video cards does nothing, and changing video settings does nothing. Any advice?

My PC is a:
Athlon 950
Abit KT7
Muskin 256mb RAM
Creative Annihilator Geforce
SB Live! Value
USR 56K Internal Voice ISA
30GB IBM Deskstar GXP 75
300W PS
Dell DH1566 19 inch monitor

Does another monitor work with your setup? Does your monitor work with another setup?

a Pink hue sounds like video card issue....and/or drivers.

Have you overclocked the video card?

Does the problem happen right at bootup during post screen or does it take awhile? If it happens after using the computer for awhile, you might want to check the fan on the video card...make sure it's running...and feel the card...any really hot spots?

Once it happens(goes pink), if you reboot, is the post screen messed up? (if so, it's vid card or monitor).

Good Luck,

The problem occurs after the PC has been on for a little bit. When I reboot, the POST screen is pink. The fan is working on the card and their are no hot spots.

Hmm....

Remove all unessary cards/drives, extra ram.....eliminate possible problems....

Well, it's likely one of three:

Video Card
Monitor
Motherboard

If you turn off your monitor for about 20 minutes...then back on, is the screen still messed up? If so, it's not your monitor.

If possible, try using another video card, or your video card in another computer...
If your card works fine in another system, and the borrowed card goes pink in your system, you can rule out video card incompatibility.....unfortunately if this is true, then you could be having motherboard, processor, ram, or other cards causing this problem....

You have pretty new components...it's beyond my knowledge all the incompatibilties thay may exist.

Keep us updated....

I tried a different video card, no change. Plugged the monitor into my laptop it flickered pink once and then never did again. I then went to the KT7 FAQ page and reset my memory settings as well as my AGP settings. The PC has now been on for over 2 hours and I have had no video abnormalities yet.

i had an old 14inch monitor that used to tint purple ... i had to hit it on the side a few times with my hand to get it back to normal ..... (the monitor blew up about a year ago ...)

perhaps the CRT in the monitor is dying ???

i know its a 19inch monitor so its probably not that old ... but its possible
