I've never had it before so not sure just how contagious it really is? It doesn't hurt, and only irritates a little bit so I'm easily able to go to work. But I don't want to infect the entire office if its super-contagious?

Yes it is contagious. You should not go to work with pink eye until you've applied the medicine to your eyes for a full 24 hours, like taking antibiotics when you have strep.

Well you technically could perform your job with pink eye, you'll start a wide fire epidemic in your workplace. Stay home and the let medication work until you are not contagious anymore.

Stay at home.

Also, antibiotics may not help. IIRC Pink Eye is normally caused by a virus. The antibiotics are a common safety net, as the bacterial variety can be more dangerous.

You don't need antibiotics for pink eye/conjunctivitis, even if it is a bacterial infection. They stopped prescribing antibiotics because they only showed a mild effect and only if treatment was started immediately upon initial symptoms. It normally goes away in a few days on its own. To relieve some of the irritation, use some ClearEyes eye drops. Don't rub your eyes as you can cause re-infection and help spread it. Wash your hands, etc.

Where I work people will probably be happy for me to infect them. Couple of days off work for a red eye and no pain? Sweet gig.

It depends on the cause of the pinkeye. I had what I thought was bad pinkeye, but the doctor just said it was "allergic conjunctivitis" and it was not necessary to stay home from work.

Taking Claritan helped a lot.

How do you know you even have pink eye? Did you see a doctor?

Take bids from your competitors for how much they'll pay you to start an outbreak.

you're lucky it doesn't hurt, when I had it my eye burned like nothing else. I could hardly sleep, I wanted to claw my eye out. I put it up there with an Ear Ache for level of discomfort.

Ok, who farted on your pillow? ;)

No but seriously, don't go to work. How would you feel if a coworker that sits next to you came to work with pink eye? Also, stay away from the gym. Seems like germs spread much quicker there than anywhere else.
