Is there a program out there that can trace an IP from incoming IM's from the AOL instant messenger?

And in other totally unrelated news: can neotrace really trace ip's of IM's?

I would also like to know how to determine the IP of someone using AIM.

Visualroute 5.0 ??...maybe? I use this at home, but have never tried to trace IP addresses from instant messenger. Only email traces for spammers.

there are programs out there specific to each instant messenging program, but i've yet to see or hear of an all inclusive one...another problem is that IM tracers are obsolete as soon as a patch comes out, and won't work if someone you're tracing has a version unspecified by your proggy. Simply said, they're not very popular, with the exception of ICQ since it is easily hackable. It's usual easier to trace an email addy *nudge nudge* in my experience

If you do netstat it only comes up with AOLs IP. Do a direct connect and netstat and you will get the persons ip.

I've tried this with CommView, and found that it doesn't talk to the other end but rather talks to the AIM server instead, unlike ICQ. :(
