Ping

Do you get high ping results to all web sites, or just certain ones?

If it's just specific sites, what sites are you having trouble with?

If you are having problems with all web sites, try connecting your computer directly to your DSL/cable modem temporarily and see if the problem persists. If the problem goes away when connected directly to the modem, then your router or one of your patch cables need attention.

If you still have high ping times when not using the router, it might be a problem with your network adapter in the computer, or an issue with the connection to your Internet Provider. Use a trace route instead of PING to help determine where the slow response is coming from. (for example: tracert www.google.com) Post the results of the trace here if you don't know how to read them.
