I currently have a 56k host modem, and usually get 200-300 ping times while playing Counter-Strike. I am going to upgrade to either a 128k or 1.5mbits wireless ethernet connection within a week or so, whenever my apartment setups the damn service (it's taking forever!).

question: will a 128k dedicated connection give me the same pings times as the 1.5mbit one, or will I get lower pings as well as faster downloads with the 1.5mbit one? I am assuming that Counter-Strike won't be able to use all the 128k bandwidth, so I figure the 1.5mbit connection is overkill. yes, I do have to pay more for the faster connection, which is why I am thinking the 128k will work best for me.

thanks!

you'll get better ping with less pl. don't expect a t1 or anything, but get dsl if it's available, if not go for cable. the last thing you should try to get is idsl, it's expensive and slow.

I don't actually know who the service provider is or any technical specs, including the upload speed(s), as I haven't been given a brochure or any info on the service. I talked with my landlord and she mentioned the service and that is should be available sometime this month. I live in Albuquerque, NM, and all the DSL carriers are too much (~$100/month) and I don't even know if I can get cable here, which is why my apartment's setup and prices ($25 and $45 I think) are so attractive.
