Does anyone offer paid pine email that a person can access using something like SSH Secure Shell from Windows?
I'm sick to death of having problems with free webmail. Today I couldn't access some jpeg photo attachments on Yahoo mail, despite trying several times during the day. I originally had pine email that I accessed from a DOS machine using direct dialup to a BBS. Later, it was over the internet using SSH, I believe it was called. They migrated us to Gmail. I'm not happy with either free service, since they seem to be targeted ad machines first, and email providers second.
I'd really like to go back to a text based interface, since there would be no place for graphical ads there.
I actually see something that may be the descendent of pine:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/re-alpine/
However, I'm not really sure I understand how this would be installed in Windows! (while I have left a partition for Linux on my PC, I'm presently getting Windows 7 back up & working so that I have my familiar desktop to fall back on until I get something else up and running)
