1) Can stress cause pimples?

2) What kind do you get? All I get are white heads near my hairline or to the left or white of my chin.

It's weird cause I used to get them all the time on my lip and nose, now that's been clean for more than a year!

1) I dunno, but I can't imagine being under stress could cause them

2) I used to get the white variety, but now since I'm on Tetracyclin (pills) and Retin A (creme) I'll get the same pimple but it will stay smaller and become a hard red lump (withouth the white part) that goes away in a week or 2. Unfortunately this kind stays longer on the face, but isn't nearly as bad to look at.

Edit: Also since I've been on this drug cocktail, the number of blemishes I've encountered has been drastically reduced. My pores on my forhead and nose (and around my nose) are still very clogged though. :(

I had acne for a little bit ( couple months) and I used a creme like Renoa or something, and washed my face twice a day, and everything was gone after like 2 months, if anyone wants more information just tell me and I'll find the exact name.. man pimples can really lower your self esteem when it comes to girls, get them away and get the honeys like me!

KnightBreed: i've used that retin-a stuff too...i had the gel version though...

my doctor told me to wash my face at least twice a day and apply the retin-a before i went to bed...

if anyone has severe acne go see a dermatologist(sp?)...my mom works at kaiser so she just brought me in to see the dermatologist to get some kind of medication...i didn't have really bad acne or anything, just wanted something to keep breakouts away...every teenager has it, it's pretty much inevitable...

jonnyjack: I used the creme because my skin is kinda oily and the gel might end up clogging my pores even more.

I went to a dermatologist a year ago and have been on a couple of different pill/gel combinations. The Tetracyclin/RetinA combo is new. I've been using it for about 2 weeks. Before that I used Differen Gel and some other antibiotic (I forget what its called). So far they have all worked well in keeping blemishes away for the most part.

I just wish I had gone sooner. I have several small scares and holes on my cheeks where I've had serious blemishes. :( I hope they fade and go away (at least in part) in the coming years.

hmm I would think stress would cause pimples because with stress, I can't sleep much, and I sometimes break out when I don't get enough sleep and plus don't eat good.

The worst thing I've used is accutane. Here's some of side effects:

Pinkeye
dry or fragile skin
dry lips
dry mouth
dry nose
itching
joint pains
nosebleeds
bowel inflamation and pain
rectal bleeding
chest pain
decreased night vision
decreased tolerance of contact lenses
slow wound healing
depression
fatigue
headache
nausea
peeling palms or soles
rash
skin infections
stomach discomfort
sunburn sensitivity
thinning hair
urinary discomfort
vomiting
vision problems

If I were a woman I would have to take period pregnancy tests, cause this will definitely cause birth defects. I did have to take blood tests. I think I had to read some warnign material and sign a consent form too. Luckily, I only experienced a few of these and to non-life-threatening degrees, so i guess thats a testament to my health (or maybe just my youth).

Yes Accutane does have some nasty side effects. My friend took it and he always complained about dry skin and the constant blood tests. But you only have to take it for a certain period of time and after that you don't need to anymore. He's off it and it has definately worked. You can't see any acne at all on him anymore.

if what u have are whiteheads and not pimples

there is nth u can do about them other than take some Anti-biotics

cleaning face does help but only VERY VERY little
basically there is some bateria on your face so u need some of those anti-stuff

take a few medications
all gone

whatever u do
whatever u eat
no more
not a single new whitehead

but i must say those antibiotics medications needs to be taken for a 'course' .. about 3-4months at least continous

I'll preface this with the disclaimer that I don't and never have had a major acne problem, but at 32, I still had minor ones until I changed what I was washing my face with. There's are a couple of products that I use now that in less than a month, cleared up my skin entirely (and I haven't had a single blemish in over 2 months).

Desert Essence face wash in the morning, followed by Burt's Bees Tomato Toner and any OTC daily blemish treatment, and during the day or evening, Desert Essence Cleansing Pads once or twice a day. The Desert Essence products contain an anti-bacterial ingredient that prevents pimples from forming in the first place, the Tomato Toner has natural acids that exfoliate your face and help minimize scarring or blotches and the daily blemish treatment (any of them work, I used to use Oxy Balance sensitive skin treatment to cut down on dryness) will clear up any of the minor ones that escape the first two items.

Stress, being tired and not eating right or drinking enough water will all contribute to acne problems, as does any kind of rubbing on your face (like resting your chin on your hands). It may seem kind of girly to use the Toner, but when I only used the other two products, some pimples snuck through. It really makes a difference.

You can get the Desert Essence stuff as well as the Burt's Bees toner at http://www.mothernature.com.

I haven't used regular soap on my face really, just pimple pads and wash, because most of my soap is moisturizing and I don't think that would help!

Ness, I think I may have tried every kind of soap and cleanser on the market, including some really expensive stuff, and nothing worked like the Desert Essence stuff, not even the washes specifically for acne. It smells awful, but it works so well, I got over the stink fast. I found an absolutely huge bottle of the face wash for less than $10 and the cleansing pads are about $5 for 50.

Some acne in older people is actually caused by the skin being too dry, so a moisturizer does help sometimes, but I'm guessing that's not the case with you. ;)
