guess that means the mouse isn't reliable since it brought the whole damn NewEgg site down.

if thats the mouse you are talking about its the same one that comes with the wireless optical freedom set (cept that one is dual optical) I have the single optical wireless and love it

I don't know if it's any better for tracking (since I've never used a single optical for long periods of time) but I LOVE the way that mouse fits my hand. My dual optical hasn't skipped in 6 months, so I can't complain about tracking :D

Dual optical sounds like a gimmick to me. I still own one of the original Intellimouse with Intellieye (very first optical mouse on the market, at least the mainstream market) and it never skips. It's still running on an old machine. I run an Intellimouse Optical on this machine and it owns.

You're probablyright about the dual optical feature being gimmicky, but I love the feel of Logitech's MouseMan series and this is the latest version

i think anand had a review on this mouse before. supposedly, dual optical tracks double times better then a single optical mouse. how? i dont know, i cant imagine how it could be even more precise noticably.

I use the Dual Optical and I love the feel of it too. This is probably the best mouse I've ever owned, doesn't skip around either.

the dual optical is designed for not skipping on strange surfaces. One camera is pointed straight down, and another one at a 45 degree angle. If one cant pick up a track, the other might be able too. It DOESNT mean it has double the precision. If you want totally unskippable mousing, get a MS IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 or the IntelliMouse Optical 3.0 (different shape, same sensor)

im not sure if "pimp" and "optical mouse" can be legally used in the same sentence.

I've owned both the original Intellimouse with Intellieye and the dual Optical, and the dual optical doesn't feel all that much different than the MS mouse. However, the MS mouse broke a while back, which is the reason why I had to buy the logitech in the first place. If you guys haven't cashed in on the MS Mouse rebate, I suggest you do so now. Before the rebate window expires and you're stuck with a broken mouse.

I love my Logitech Mouseman Optical Wireless mouse. I'll never go back to a corded mouse again. The only drawback is that it does tend to eat batteries depending on use. Easy fix though.. Just buy a 4-pk of "AA" rechargeable NiMH batteries and alternate between the 2 pair (takes 2 batteries).

It works just like a regular mouse only there is no squeak from the ball moving and you don't have to clean the mouse ever.

Reliable? So far.. I've had mine for a year now and it's still fine.

I own both the Dual Optical and the Explorer 3.0 . The sensor on the Dual Optical liked to go off on its own, so it was impossible for me to keep my monitor in sleep mode. The mouse is built well, but I found it to be too heavy. It also does not track any better than my explorer, and has trouble with certain mouse pads(Ratzpad).

The Explorer is much lighter, easier to have ll the buttons and wheel work in games, a bit more accurate IMO, and the sensor does not go off by itself.

The newer versions of the MS optical mouses scan at 2x the rate as the original ones. I have one of the original Intellimouse Opticals that scans at 1500 or 2000 per second I think. The newer models from MS scan at 2x that.

On my mouse and others that scan at the same rate, if you move the mouse very fast from side to side (definately not anywhere near the speed you would use in gaming), the cursor will move downwards as your going too fast.

Doesn't skip in normal use but only if I am moving the mouse that fast. Only thing that it happened was that game in where you had to spank the monkey as fast as you could.
