He's always big on demonizing illegals & asylum seekers, pretty much surfing on Trump's wake to do it. A lot of Americans, particularly self styled conservatives, had shitty attitudes about it all before Trump turned the volume up to 11. Dickishness is a virtue & a fashion statement for all too many of them.

Anybody who thinks migrants are a problem for us might want to try taking a look at it from the other side. Try to imagine living in a situation where you're driven to chucking it all, scooping up your little kids & braving 1500 miles of bullshit to take a chance on America, praying desperately that we'll take you in.

That's their reality. They'll keep coming so long as they have reason to do so, bet on that. The stupid fucking wall won't stop them, either.

Maybe we need to do a reality check. Hell- we've enabled weak, corrupt govts in the northern triangle since forever because American business profits from it & because commies & shit. Meanwhile, we sent them LA gang culture & corrupt narco dollars.

Migrants? That's our own policy coming around to bite us in the ass.

Do you know the difference between legal and illegal immigration you stupid fuck?

Everything Jhhnn said makes 100% sense! If you don`t agree, don`t be a dick and explain why you don`t agree!!
My take is illegals are still people who deserve to be treated correctly! Jhhnn has a point when he says --

I could not imagine living in a country where I could not raise my family or have any possessions no matter how hard I worked to try to make ends meat!!

I'm not sure you understood the point he is making. Illegal or legal really is irrelevant for the point he was making.

He CLEARLY made the distinction. When he said "Anybody who thinks migrants are a problem for us" he was talking ILLEGAL. No Republican is against legal immigration. In fact, just 4-6 short years ago, even the most left of the Democrats were against illegal immigration and wanted to close our borders, and thought illegals were a threat. Some may like to see a decrease in quotas from different countries, but no one is calling for an end to legal immigration. Dont be daft.

That statement is inherently false! You can bet your last dollar that Republicans are against certain kind of Legal immigration!!
Before you get your feathers in a dander even TRUMP stated that immigrants should have something to offer the United states!

Enough with the cheap labor and the extended family members, and it’s time to be a little more discerning about the tired, poor and huddled masses yearning to come to America.

Such is the mantra of the Trump administration this week as it outlined a new plan to overhaul the U.S. immigration system.

President Trump has spent the first half of his presidency pushing aggressively for policies that he believes will halt the flow of Central American migrants across the U.S. southern border. But he’s not opposed to immigration, his aides say. He just wants a different kind of immigrant.

More specifically, according to the plan described Wednesday by senior administration officials, Trump wants English-speaking doctors or engineers with high-salaried job offers and the ability to pass an AP civics test.

Perhaps I wasn't clear. By "migrants", I meant the people who present themselves willingly to CBP seeking asylum. The law grants them that right. They are not illegals regardless of where they cross the border to do so.

You see that's where your wrong! You didn`t even read the article!
But that's okay you can claim ignorance!
I don`t believe any president has been as vocal as TRUMP concerning having engineers and doctors immigrate to the US as opposed to cheap labor and the extended family members, and it’s time to be a little more discerning about the tired, poor and huddled masses yearning to come to America.
yet quite a few of those so called uneducated immigrants who do the cheap labor have families and many of their children join the armed forces and are productive and pay taxes!!
So Blah , blah blah back at you !!

We don't care about human trafficking because it is practically non-existent, and when it is found it is almost always consensual. They myth of people being kidnapped and brought into the US as slaves is almost completely made up by alarmists. Despite us spending literally tens of billions of dollars on this we have found extremely few actually trafficked people, and of those almost every one of them entered into intentional indentured servitude in order to get smuggled into the US.

If you actually cared about human trafficking you would care about making it easier to get into the US legally, then they would not have to sell themselves into slavery to do so.

Then, beyond that, this study says NOTHING about trafficking. The 'non-related' families are much more likely to be real families that happen to not be blood related. Families tend to be much more loosely connected in countries with histories of violence and poor medical than it does in the US.
So, of that percentage of people that they suspect to be non-blood related, some percentage of them will be real families, some percentage of them will be pretending to be real families to game the system, and almost none of them will be traffickers.

This simply is not a method to go about catching traffickers because it's false positive rate will be thousands of times higher than it's true positive.

It does seem to me that human nature means criminal 'traffickers' will exist. But what the numbers are, and what methods of crossing borders they use is unknown to me. As you say, this study clearly has almost zero relevance to that question, as even the 1/3 of the highly-selected sample that are unrelated are probably not examples of trafficking so much as how extended family networks work. Didn't someone say that the DNA tests only really pick up parental/child relationships, so the groups could very-well still be 'family', just more distant family than the nuclear one. This study sounds like a complete non-story, really.

Any actual Mexicans on this forum? Conditions in Mexico are mostly unknown to me, though I get that the crime rate is very high and there is a great deal of corruption, it also seems as if the picture of that country is sometimes greatly exaggerated, like its a full-on 'failed state' or something.

I'm thinking of a US movie I saw recently that seemed to have a decidedly Trumpian perspective on this topic, that seemed really implausibly extreme...but at the same time a very long time ago I had a Mexican friend who decided to never go back there after some family members were victims of violent crime. So I'm assuming that things are bad, but not as bad as depicted by conservative Americans.

No Republican is against legal immigration.

Better inform the Trump admin....the policies being put forth by it does indeed vastly restrict legal immigration. Links to a few articles describing such are below, but who am I kidding....you won't read a damned thing that counters your feels.

That's hurtful and very mean to him. You may have hurt him so much that he might be inspired to vote for Trump again because people keep being mean to him, pointing out his errors and all that.

totally unfair.
