I'm hoping someone can link me to a chart that shows how large a 4:3 image appears in any given screen size of a 16:10 panel. I know I could do the math to figure this out, but it has been a while and I don't entirely have the time to figure this out myself.

(Yes I really mean 16:10, not 16:9)

Here's your chart. Just as an example, I input 1.60:1 for the ratio and 20" for the size. The screen height is 10.6", which will be the limiting factor for 4:3 content. Then, I changed the ratio to 1.33:1 (4:3) and started guessing some numbers. 17.6" diagonal gave me the same screen heigh of 10.6".

If you don't want to do it with a chart then you can take the diagonal size of your 16:10 screen and multiply it by .88333333333333333333333333333333333333333333 to get the equivalent 4:3 screen size when displaying content in that aspect ratio.

Sweet, that's exactly what I was looking for

I particularly like the effect you get going from the size of a standard HDTV type size (42-50?) and comparing it to a typical front projection size :)

Of course you'd sit farther away and all that jazz, but fun anyway ;)

I use this line. "Inches? Who measures in inches? I measure in Feet."
