I just got my 840 Pro 256GB from the Newegg deal. What kinda sucks is I placed an order for the 512 version from B&H and it had been backordered for over a month, and I thought it was eventually going to be cancelled. I didnt get around to canceling it, and I got the shipped notice today! lol Oh well..good deals are good deals. Anyways, I dumped the 256 in a USB 3 enclosure.
Not too bad! Not sure what I'm going to do with it...maybe use the 512 for OS and the 256 for portable capture scratch. Or use it to build a fusion drive.
Used to need to have 2 raid enclosures with 4 controllers and 4 luns to get 260MB/s, and now I have it in a single drive. I can't wait to have one running at full speed!
Yeah, so for now I put it in a USB3 enclosure. My Sabertooth X58 has the crappy Marvell SATA3 controller, so I am in no rush to put it inside the case. Numbers wise its probably the same as USB3.
Nice! I just installed my 840PRO 256GB last weekend, it screams. I also bought a 120GB Kingston Hyper-X for dual boot, it's also fast. It benchmarks much slower, but I really can't tell the difference between the two.
I installed CoD 4 because I wanted to run through the single player again, my god the maps load fast.
Have fun with your new toys.
