Pikes Peak Hill Climb next weekend.

....awesome.

If I had vacation time and weekends off I'd consider heading up there for that.

It was all dirt at one point. They paved it now, makes it easier for flat landers to drive to the top.

Where's the fun in that?

<-- Drove up it when it was almost completely dirt.

I may try and catch some sprints if I'm free that weekend, I've lived in CO going on 12 years and never seemed to bother with the race.

yeah it was pretty freaky, my friend works for the fire department and ran down to see if they were ok, but someone from the crash rescue team beat him there.

I think the co-pilot dislocated his arm, and the driver was more or less ok.

edit: one of the drivers nearly went off the road driving back down at the end because it started raining/snowing a little and they had those slick racing tires. after about 5pm they stopped going to the top and only went half way up...so we hiked back down.

edit2: and Monster had a cock pit fire 1/2 mile intot he race, so that was a HUGE let down.

This was my favorite car to come up all day....next to the motorcycles with sidecars

yeah...they were ok. Not like last year though, the guy who crashed his firebird walked back up the mountain with rescue workers. he didn't tumble nearly as far though.

They were talking about having a 2day event next year.

The really scary part is that there are many worse places to run off, with much further to fall! D:
