Hi!

I've just installed the above configuration and it works flawless. The only thing bothering me is the noise from the CPU-fan... (CoolerMaster DP5-6H51)

It's operating at 34C (CPU) and 30C (MB) after 1 hour of use.

Can anyone recommend a different CPU-Cooler, with will give me (some kind of) peace?

Thanks....

Hi Stanley, I'm doing the same (PIII700@933, Asus CUSL2-C), but with the Global Win FOP 32. I, too, have a noise problem (I'm using the screaming Delta fan). I'm going to try a different fan with 36dbA and I'll let you know if or how much that helps. My Fong Kai case is supposed to be quiet, but that screaming Delta is still annoying. At least you can be happy with your cooling results--my cpu temp seems to be averaging about 41c and my mb 28c. BTW, have you tried higher oc'ing? My system seemed stable at 1001 and perhaps I could go higher, but I feel "safer" or less worried at 933. There's just something comfortable about that 133/133/33 setting. Good luck.

If you can, get a larger fan, minimum 80x80mm, and hopefully Panaflo. I've attached these fans in the place of the old fans with ZipTies (cleanly cut Fluoro/blacklite responsive zip ties) with much success.

I have a bx board with an fcpal35t(delta fan). That fan is too damn loud. I just switched out the delta to the sunon fan. My temps have gone up about 4 degrees, but it's worth it.

Thanks for the suggestion, sub. I think I have some larger fans hanging around here somewhere.

P.S. Has anyone tried the CPU cooling software or set the Smart Fan Control? I assume you need a thermistor-controlled fan to use the Smart Fan Control? (I also just posted these questions as a new topic on the motherboard sections).

CPU software cooling is junk.... I tried it myself and definitly not worth it... And beleive it or not, the foam rubber in mouse pads work great as a sound dampener... I used a glue gun to attach cut peices to the inside of my case paneling and it cut the noise levels. I used the cheap free mousepads with the fabric tops being the surface that I put the glue on. While, not as quiet as before I had my fans, don't get me wrong, this won't perform miracles on sound, but it was worth the hour invested and the ten or so mousepads i got for free anyways...

I just installed this hs-fan on my P3700@933 and it is not much louder than the retail packaged one. My CPU runs at about 42C max with CPUStabTest running for a couple of hours (51C with retail heatsink). It is VERY quiet compared with my Celeron GlobalWin.
