PIII Overclecking. Best price/overclocking factor, 650 or 700?

I've been looking everywhere for recent PIII overclocking articles, without too much success. I want to upgrade my computer to a PIII, but unsure if I should go with a 700 or a 650. Will the 650 go almost as far as the 700? I'm pretty sure that I could run them at a 133MHz FSB, but do almost all of 650 and 750 reach it? Is the 700 worth the extra bucks? Also, are there any specefic cpu numbers that I should look for (such as the nice PII 300 SL2W8)?

As far as motherboards go, I'm pretty set on getting either an ASUS CUSL2 or ABIT SE6, but I'm also considering the ASUS CUBX. Would all the nice extra bus speed settings on the CUSL2 really make a difference to get a lot more juice out of the CPU?

I know these are a lot of questions at one time, but any help would really be appreciated in this mind boggling upgrade! :)

Tks a lot!

I just bought a PIII 700 and it was $10 more than a PIII 650, but $150 less than a PIII 750, so the 700 would be the best bang for the buck. It runs at 868 at less than default voltage (1.6V).

the 700e is the perfect OC processor for the bx platform.
with a 143 fsb (near the limit of this chipset) you could reach over 1001mhz.
i don't know the fsb settings on the mb you'are talking about, but you can check by yrself the qntity of setting in the 130-145 range.

buy the 650e only for a i815-via133a platform, cause the 6.5 multiplier need very high fsb settings (150+) to reach the limit of ther cb0 core.

for the complete sspec numebers documentation download the .pdf from intel page.

firingsquad have an article on building a near-ghz machine with the 700e. take a look.

Both chips as long as they are both CB0 overclock about to the same speed. I'd get the 650 because you'd be able to run it at a faster bus speed. I'd rather take a 650 running at a 145 bus speed having the ram run at cas2 than a 700 running at 133. I like it just 'cause my components will also be overclocked but not high enough that anything bad will happen to them.

I would go with the ASUS and a 700 have you thought about going with a P3V4X or CUV4X just a thought they are a little cheaper with about the same performance if you want to save 40$. But I would go ASUS for sure.

I went w/ the 650@961MHz route w/ an Asus CUV4X. No complaints here. :)
