PIII or Duron?

I currently have an ASUS CUV4X mboard w/ a celeron 433 overclocked to 550, and i was thinking of getting a pIII 700 or higher. I have about $160 to spend, and i have also been thinking of maybe buying a MSI KT7 Turbo and a duron 750, which would just fall in my budget. So if anyone has an opinion on this, i would appreciate it. I will be overclocking whatever processor i buy, so keep that in mind. Thanks.

P3-700 vs Duron 750 I'd take the Duron. The P3 would be a bit faster, but with the K7T Turbo you have a better upgrade path to at least 1.3Ghz+ Athlons. And the Duron will probably overclock better 🙂

If you can get a better CPU for your board that might save a few...but with P3s so expensive compared to Durons you can probably fit the board into the same budget.

Plus then you could sell your CU4VX and make a few $$$.

Let's see...a faster processor (both in MHz and performance), and a motherboard, or a slower processor, for the same price? Tough call. </sarcasm>
go for the duron, dude!

I'd say you should probably just get a P3 700E or something and overclock to 933, cost about $120 and you'll have a little more speed without the hassle of swapping motherboards.

I have a Duron if you wanna switch over. Duron 800@GHZ stock voltage with a Global Win WBK HSF Delta 7KRPM Fan.
