I oced it by running up the FSB to 112 and it also ran the PCI speed to like 36. Is this safe?

It does NOT lock up and withstands the Sisoft Sandra Burn in process.

I also have a Hercules Ultra card. Whats a good speed to leave it at, slightly overclocked?

I run the 1.0.05 Bios for ASUS ....

I have questions though:

1. Can/Should I go higher?
2. Will that PCI speed hurt anything?
3. What about the geforce?

yes 36mhz is safe.
try more speed for the fsb, if it locks up, change it back.
i have no experience with that geforce

The most vulnerable component to high PCI bus speeds is usually the HDD. Many are stable at 41MHz, but some don't like anything over 33. If you're okay so far you're probably fine, but if you get into 41MHz territory and things stop working, you may have to do things like go to slower transfer modes (disabling DMA, stepping down to PIO 4, etc.), which defeats the point of having that nice 7200rpm ATA100 drive :). There IS always the possibility of data corruption from running OCed HDDs, but most newer ones are more tolerant of oddball bus speeds. Unfortunately you probably won't know you have a problem until it happens. I don't know what HDD(s) you're using. (You have 2 HDDs listed in your AMD sig system. If you use those for example, you double the odds of something flaking-out, and the 5400 Maxtors did not have good reps for OCing).

The GeForce will probably be fine to at least 88Mhz or so. They were the vidcard of choice for early P!!!s at +133Mhz FSBs on BX boards.

Just keep pushing up the FSB and bumping the voltage (about 1.9v MAX) until the thing stops being stable. You'll probably max-out before 133MHz anyway. I'd guess about 117, which would give you a nice 933Mhz OC (I'm not sure what FSBs the P3V4X offers).

well you can try 133 fsb but there are few that have made that with a 800E its just past the ceiling of the P-3 core at this time. As far as FSB go as high as ya can but don't exceed about 39 on the PCI bus and you should be fine. This is why everyone say's 133 FSB because all it well there. If I remember right you can change the Divider for that and run the CPU at say 120 and divide it by 4 for your PCI which will put you at 30 But its been a while since I ran the P3V4X so I'm going from my pore memory ;).

As far as the Ultra why bother the things are faster than hell. but I have run mine no problem at 275 core and 485 memory speeds so you decide if its worth it to ya.

Well I left it at 112x8.0 = 896mhz the PCI speed was 37 I beleave. It took the Sandra bench/torture test fine.

I also bumped the Gefore up 15MHZ on both sides for a lil more performance.

Thanks for the info.
