A friend of mine has a PIII 700 and a BE-6. He wants to o/c it but doesn't know how. I haven't worked with that chip either, so I don't know what voltage, multiplier, fsb speed, etc to suggest. Can you offer some suggestions that I can pass along to him so he can give it a shot????

Thanks for the help!!! :)

When I got my 700, I started at 1.85 volts and 133 bus. Then I worked my way down to 124 bus and then started to lower the voltage until it became unstable. Thats the way I did it. Im sure there are a lot of other opinions on the proper way to find your sweet spot.

If I had to do it again. I would probrobly go right to 124 bus at 1.65volts and build up the voltage until it runs properly at 124 bus. If the cpu can infact hit 124 bus! I read in some articles to go to a high voltage for a starting point and a high bus and other schools of thought are the opposite. The reasoning behind starting at 1.85 is because it is the maximum safe voltage give or take a bit. And the other reason is that mopst p3 cbo stepping cpus can hit the 133 bus or at least the 124 bus.So go for it! Shoot for 133 at 1.85 and work your way down.
Of course that is IMHO.

Set the FSB@133 and start@stock voltage and see if it boots/runs stable. If not increase Voltage .05 until it does (up to +.20 v). If it won't run @133, it maybe your memory, not your cpu holding you back. But try this first, and if it doesn't work we get into the memory.

i agree with setting the fsb @133 at default voltage, then increase it until it is stable. if you hit 1.85V and it still isn't stable, then back down the fsb a little

Small steps with overclocking is the key. There are lots of reasons why A chip cant overclock, so try to limit the other problems..bad ram, video, etc. Make sure you have a nice fan so you dont melt that shiny new 700 too.
