CompGeeks only has (had?) three of them in the first place. So
if you want one, you'd better hurry.
As for fans/heatsinks, you need a SPECIALIZED heatsink for the
Xeon. Forget about standard SECC2 heatsinks. The Xeon needs a
massive heatsink that covers the entire "plate" side of the
large Xeon package. Potential good deal alerts about that:
HiTechCafe.com has Aavid Xeon heatsinks for $12. JustDeals.com
has generic Xeon heatsinks with 2 fans for $15 (plus ridiculous
shipping; they've changed their shipping rates yet again).
The fans for the JustDeals heatsink are not integrated with the
heatsink, and you need to find a place to mount them near the
Xeon. In other words, they're bogus. There are apparently some
integrated heatsink/fan designs for the Xeon, look around. And if
you're running dual Xeons, you need to make sure you even have
room for a fan of any type. (If you're running quad Xeons, then
you almost certainly are running in an Intel designed server
cabinet with its own built in heat dissipation for the
processors. In this case, all you need or even want are the
heatsinks themselves.
Note also that the CompGeek PII Xeons are 400Mhz/512kb cache.
These chips come in 512/1mb and 2mb cache versions. In the PII
series, even the 2Mb cache chips are only about $200-250. Personally
I'd go with those if you're gonna bother with Xeons.
Now if you hop to PIII Xeons, then you pay through the nose for
even the 512Kb cache processors, and through several other
orifaces if you go higher...!
