I just picked up a gigabyte board and i will never buy asus again lol. the board is heavy with 2 oz copper. I just enabled the ACC to auto and the 4th core did not show up. In the bios under the ACC setting, I can see the 4 cores and options are Auto, Per core. This means I have a proc with a bad 4th core? I'm not unhappy it would have been a bonus.

I have'nt kept up on this once hot topic.I have a working 4th core on a biostar board, but my last reading was biostar next release bios would not allow this Even with a good 4th core.In my bios i have setting under ACC>"all cores"which enables it.Gonna take some board/bios/cpu batch research maybe to figure it all out.:)

For my gigabyte board I did not have an ACC option with the F3 Bios but when upgrading to the F4 bios the option was available. I guess my bios has disabled the 4th core sad. but the board still rocks. If I can install a bios that would work , that would be great. All try the ACC set to all cores.

My guess is that they've disabled it in the new BIOS. Many manufacturers were pushed this way (presumably) by AMD. I haven't updated my Biostar's BIOS because of it, but I may have to one day if they release updated RAID drivers for the SB750.

anyone know if I can downgrade my bios to an older edition so i can try and unlock my 4th core. The batch numbers looks like i should have a working 4th core.

As long as you use the floppy method you should be able to downgrade just fine. I've done it with asus boards, not gigabyte boards.

EDIT: You have to be careful the older bios has PII support.

I found a F2B driver, can someone tell me if this is the driver to use so I can see if my 4th core is working? How dependable are the bios from this site. Since my board has dual bios. If I load a nonworking bios, will the second bios kick in and fix the main bios? Any gigabyte people around.

My board is a Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4P (1.0)
