Piggy-backed Wired routers.

I currently have a D-link 704P with the 4 ports used up with 3 PC's and a wireless access point. Can I add another 4 port router plugged into the first router by removing the wireless AP, and plugging a second router into that jack? OR; should I just make the additional PC's wireless and have them go thru the wireless AP. Can you use multiple wireless PC's into one Access Point?

Yes you certainly can. Just turn off DHCP on the 2nd router before plugging it into the main router.

Of course you can.

You can have multiple computers going to one access point. If you can run them non-wirelessly, do it. Wireless is nice but it should not be used as a permanent solution when you can physically wire the machines.

Hook up the second router but turn of DHCP on it.

Thanks to both of you for the prompt replies. I will now go with another 4port rather than buy another 7port or wireless PCI cards. Many Thanks...

Why does everyone want to use two routers now intead of just hooking up a switch? (or a hub, but why bother with that either)

I think alot of it is just that most people think a router is a switch since most consumer lvl stuff is router/switch combo.
