Unlike the bread I made a few days back that turned out well to my surprise this I have made many times before and it's always wonderful. Note this is NOT cooked yet, that's why it's so pale:

I know how to make the pie shell but this one is store-bought. This is for a the family party tonight. We'll also serve the bread.

Oh right. It's Apple pie.

Pie is the greatest thing ever, though apple is probably my least favourite of all pies. That said, the worst pie is still better than the best cake and yours looks very yummy! :awe:

Can you tell us anything more about this pie? Can you provide the recipe? What about the ratio of the circumference and diameter? And what is that sugary-glaze like coating you have on top?

Pie IS wonderful but I don't actually have it all that often. And rarely if ever order it in restaurants so I'll have to visit that store some time. Though maybe after I've lost a few more pounds, want to get down to about 180 first.

I have to experiment with different types some time. I've only made Apple and a few other variants. What would you recommend?

The only pies I tend to like are sweet&sour ones. Rhubarb w/custard is my favorite, but damn hard to find nowadays. My favorite that I can find is the Razzleberry ones I can find at Publix.

Very basic recipee:

6-8 tart granny smith apples (add lemon juice is they are too sweat)
1 Cup Sugar
1 Tsp cinnamon
2 Tbsp flour

I also added crushed walnuts to this because we had to get rid of them.

Peel, core, slice apples thinly. Mix all ingredients with apples thoroughly. Place in pie shell. Dot with generous amounts of butter. Bake for about 1 Hr at 400 F.

You can play with the above recipe quite a lot to get it to your own desired tastes.

The top you see is a simple sugar and flour "crumble" Just mix flour, butter and sugar together with some oatmeal till it's all nice and crumbly.

9inch pie shell.

Well it really depends what you like. Berry pies are awesome, using whatever fresh berries are around. I also make a mean peach pie when the peaches are in season. I generalyl try to stick with whatever is in season for most fruit pies.

That's one of the great things about pie, so versatile.

What recipe do you use. Some variant of the above I posted or a lot more complex?

Well had a great time as usual. And as usual had a great time with my cousin. God I hope that doesn't become a theme!
