Pictures show up in camera but not on computer

I have a friend with a Sanyo digital camera and 1GB memory card, about half full with pictures. She can see all her pictures from the camera, however not on the PC after connecting the camera with a USB cable. The removeable drive shows up but only contains a couple pictures... the DCIM folder containing all the pics that would normally be there is not there now. Problem just started recently, before that she had no trouble transferring pics to PC the same way. She tried accessing the card with a card reader and got the same result, so the problem seems to be with the card and not the camera.

So, pictures are on the card and perfectly viewable through the camera. But when card is viewed on PC the pics are not there. Anyone have any idea what's going on here and how she can get these pics off of the card?

could be driver...if the card is a SDHC then you'd need a proper reader, but reading from the camera should bypass that need and I don't think they make SDHC under 4GB....what's the sanyo model number
