Here's an interesting shot of a pair of R200's(radeon2)? looks like they're sporting D-sub, DVI and s-video out, the GPU looks huge, the Ram chips appear to be simular to the SE(ESMT) and the PCB looks to be quite large and loaded.

?Here's an interesting shot of a pair of R200's(radeon2)??

I?ve seen a few threads about this round the net already, many seem to think they could be real.

? looks like they're sporting D-sub, DVI and s-video out, the GPU looks huge, the Ram chips appear to be simular to the SE(ESMT) and the PCB looks to be quite large and loaded.?

Given the output options on there its not much surprise that they board is pretty loaded; I should imagine the power regulation circuitry is going to be pretty hefty as well.

Don?t know how much the chip size relates to the silicon size ? they may just be using it like to to dissipate the heat through the heatsink better. However if the stories of 4 pipes with 3 (or 6??) Texture units per pipe, with full DX8.1 compatibility then (given GF3 is circa 57Million transistors) it certainly can?t be a shrinking violet of a chip! Again, if 250Mhz core speed is true then that?s got to be an impressive feat!

I?m quite eager to hear what the actual specification is.

Where are they going to fit the tuner for the AIW R200? LOL. Some white papers should be heading down the pipe soon I would hope. It almost looks like a hydravision board, perhaps still at the fab.

Perhaps we'll see a V5 6000 sized card afterall! ;)

I wonder if they'll actually continue with the AIW cards for 3D chips like this; presumably its going to be pretty expensive in the first place, without the added tuner functions.

Definately, its the flagship of their line. I would expect component video-out, digital tuner and perhaps firewire ports and perhaps breakout boxes in/out or a combo breakout box.

The entry price point will likely be only slightly higher than the radeon cards were last year, and for someone who uses the features, I wouldn't say bargain(especially initially), but certainly not a bad deal considering the feature set. Considering the competition from the upcoming Kyro3 and the current GF3, it will have to be competively priced.

I thought the next generation AIW was supposed to have a new version of Rage Theater chip - don't recall what the name is. Those alleged R200s have a Rage Theater chip on them. Guess those video connectors mean there won't be a R200 VIVO model?

AIW shouldn't be that bad space-wise if you take off the DVI and S-video and add a TV-Wonder breakout box.
