Just make a flat grill the size of the cross-sectional area of the lower bin about 1/4-1/3 of the way up, and stick that straight in there. You could use any sort of rigid metal flat stock, so long as it is perforated, really.

I usually use lump but at this grillout I was using a combination of kingsford and lump since I got 20 lbs of Kingsford for $-2.00 (they paid me) and lump is damn near $.50 a lb.

Good man.

When I was little, I thought the guy on the Kingsford bag was Ronald Reagan. I thought they just always put the President on the bag.

It's really not that hard to clean the grill. When I used to grill, I'd reserve half a bag of charcoal and another 6 pack for "cleaning." Build up a very hot fire, let er burn with the lid closed for a half hour or so, have a couple drinks, scrape grill while hot. You want to season the grill like a cast iron skillet. After several cleanings like that, stuff won't stick as much and the stuff that does will come off fairly easily while warm.

PS you should get a gas burner for the side so you can cook/heat sides while grilling. :)
