Looks AM2 is around the corner.

Interesting. But why the name K9N? I thought AM2 was still K8 Architecture. I always thought the model numbers were representative of the Architecture like with 939 and 754 where there are A8N and K8N's galore.

Is K9 really upon us?

Considering that the chip says MCP55P-*something*-A3 I'd guess it uses MCP55P. It does suck that it only has one IDE channel, considering that I havent upgraded hard drives in the longest time and the few times I added an HD I bought PATA (it seemed like a good idea at the time, lol).

Why would it matter for them to keep the same pinout if the CPUs cannot possibly be compatable?

The RAM Slots look a little close to the CPU Socket for my likings. Might mean large heatsing/fan combo's will be out of the question on that board.

1 IDE... damn, i'm gonna have to put a CD-RW & DVD-RW on the same slot, ah well at least it still has Floppy .

Well, since I believe K9 is now just the name for the future quad core cpus, it's very likely we'll see them on AM2.
