Pictures of a storm in downtown Atlanta

I get some nice views from my place in Atlanta, and whenever a storm rolls the sky lights up with lightning, reflection of lights off the clouds, etc. All I have with me is my Canon XT and the kit lens, and I can't get a proper exposure; however, I still think these are pretty interesting.

Normal view

Storm. A little overexposed, but overall fairly accurate representation of what I see when the storms roll in. The clouds hover over the buildings, and at times I can't see anything.

Another picture a few minutes later.

I didn't get any lightning. f/5.6 ISO 1600 on most of these shots. It makes it grainy, but I'm without a tripod.

Thoughts?

I almost moved to Dunwoody. I like it over there. Much quieter than around here.

Cheaper too! I pay about $650/month, including utilities, for my half of a 2-bed/2-bath with full garage...and two swimming pools, four tennis courts, athletic facility, car wash facility, etc.

Damn! :( If I stay here much longer I'll likely be making a move. Too expensive in midtown, and while I love it there's just not much extra value.

I'm thinking of moving to the Sandy Springs/Dunwoody area, what's the name of the apartment?

Could you turn to the right a little bit and snap me a picture of Tech Tower? I haven't been on campus in awhile and I kinda miss the 'ole shaft. :p

Guess it depends on what you call cheap. A decent place will run you $1k-$2k in midtown/downtown areas, and a lot more if you want a really nice place.

The 'burbs are less expensive, but even they have their really expensive areas. Buckhead condos can be insanely expensive as well.

The building with the light at top looks so cool when the clouds obscuring it. I was at a GT in 2005 and it rained just before the game....make for some cool shots of the city from the nose bleed section!

You know, it's funny you say that, because I noticed the same thing. When I first got here I was working with a client in Alpharetta, and one of my Indian friends was with me. He found a lot of people from his home state almost immediately. He said there was a large Indian community there. Interesting.

Anyway, there's this Indian restaurant called Andy's off of exit 10. It's *really* good!

LOL.

Well, just for the record, I'm not fruity by any stretch. I do know what you mean though :) And yes, there are a lot of pretentious people around here.

I was just playing. My sister lives in Alpharetta but she isn't Indian either. It's just that lot of Indians live in Alpharetta. I live in Roswell which is right next to Alpharetta and all old white folks live here. :)
