Pictures from my one-week trip to Hawaii

i took it at the end of august, haven't had a chance to process the pics until now. sorry, a lot of the pics are 600x400 due to disk space... i made larger ones (50% of original size) for the pics that i especially liked though (macro shots and whatnot).

maui and the big island

these are some of my favorites:

lizard
the perfect beach
crab i waited a long time for

i'd like to improve at photography... i'm a serious newbie, so any comments and suggestions are welcome 🙂 or you can just enjoy the pics, as i do 🙂
 
Man, some day... some day... I will go there.

My last major vacation out of IL was to the Atlanta Olympic games in '96. :/
 
Hawaii is an awesome vacation spot. I went there for the 1991 ProBowl and stayed in the Hilton Hawaiin village. Very nice place 🙂

Actually, I was just there 3 weeks ago for my honeymoon. My wife and I hiked 1 hour to get to that beach and it was AWESOME! There were only 2 surfers there and we had the rest to ourselves. 😎

Where was your favorite resteraunt? did you have a chance to visit Hilo?
 
The Big Island is the one place that I have fallen in love with. Were all the Heaven pics taken at Kua Bay? That would be the one reason why i would get another Jeep, to see stuff like that again, unfortunately the price you pay for 4wd is excessive, both directly and indirectly. We drove 1000 miles on the Big Island averaging something like 14MPG in a little 4cyl Jeep. It just couldnt take those mountains

Kua Bay...went body surfing there in some big waves. Well, they were big to me anyway (10+ feet). 🙂 I think his "Heaven" pics were taken at Makalewena Beach.

damn you! yea, that's where they were taken. the photo of me reading a book was taken at kua bay i think.

no, unfortunately, we mostly stayed on the west side of the island

my favorite retaurant was probably this little shaved ice stand near where we were staying 🙂

but sarento's on the beach has incredible service. it almost made me feel uncomfortable, how attentive they were. the food was pretty good too.
