Picture flickers when playing dvds.

I have a new Dell 2001fp monitor along with a radeon 9800 pro video card. When i play DVDs through any type of player the Picture flickers rapidly. It doesn't do it when i play games like KOTR or Morrowind. It only happens when i play DVDs. I have all the new drivers. I have played around with refresh rates. And i am unable to figure out why it does this. I don't recall it doing these before i downloaded SP2. May have nothing to do with it. But any help would be appreciated thanks.

You might try to force a v-synch somehow, I had the same problem with my laptop on one of my programs, switched to win media player and the problem isn't there. I'd be interested to see what your solution is

Are you running dual monitors by any chance? If so, try setting the LCD screen to monitor to be the primary monitor or try setting the LCD to the default in the DVD program if possible. I got flickering/no picture sometimes when switching the DVD from one screen to another on a multi-monitor setup.

Otherwise, it could be the DVD player needs a patch, ie PowerDVD XP (4), which needs a patch to work properly; WinDVD or PDVD 5 or whatever you use might have some patches around too - best to check.

Also what version of the Catalysts are you running? If it's older than 4.7 or so, I'd strongly suggest you upgrade to the latest and greatest non-beta ones (4.9).

Best of luck!
