I have a 27" Magnavox SDTV. I have my 360 hooked up though component but for some reason the picture doesn't seem to completely fit on the screen. And when something is moving in picture, the picture seems to stretch. Its hard to explain. Maybe one you all have seen something like this and could provide some help. And I have my 360 set to 480 and standard aspect ratio.

Sounds like an overscan problem for the first part?

For the second part, are you describing that the picture stretches inwards / outwards horizontally when there is a change in brightness of the images on the screen at a given height?

to the second part yes. I only notice it stretching horizontally though.

Sounds like a "kinking / bouncing" problem. It happens on all CRTs, more so on ones with lower quality power supplies.

Reducing contrast should lessen the problem if that's what it is.

Have you calibrated your set?

I actually raised my contrast ratio so thats probably what is causing the problem. No I haven't calibrated my set yet. I don't know how to.

You can get a calibration DVD to help you get the settings right.

I have some info about options in the sticky thread under calibration.

I lowered the contrast ratio but the problem hasn't lessened. Would going through a calibration get rid of it?

It wont get rid of it, and if lowering your contrast already didn't do anything to it, then it's probably not going to get any better from calibrating it.
