Does anyone know of a 4K monitor that can screen split to 2 1920 x 2160 screens? I see some that advertise screen split into to 4 1080p screens, but two tall screens would work best for me.

You mean by using two different inputs? Probably a long shot. Windows itself (8+) does good split screen though for 50:50

Remote desktop wouldn't work. My old work laptop will not drive 4K, but my desktop will. So, I was thinking about getting a 4K and when I use my work laptop just run two connection to the monitor and config it as two 1920 x 2160 screens. It sounds like it would work. I could get 4K when the laptop cannot do 4K by treating it as a dual monitor setup.

I found out the Samsung U28E590D will do it. From the manual, "Select the icon image if you want to use PBP mode where the optimum resolution for the left and right sides of the screen is 1920 x 2160 (width x height)."

Not sure what others will do it.

Does anyone know if the AOC U2879VF will do this? The information on newegg and the manual say it will do PBP, but doesn't say if it will do two 1920 x 2160 screens.

Your laptop doesn't have to be able to drive it, it won't even be connected to it. Remote Desktop lets you select the resolution from the machine you are connecting from. I use it over teamviewer because my laptop won't support 3440x1440 since its not connected to my monitor but RDCing in lets me use it full screen.

I am not sure remote desktop will work. The laptop is on a work vpn. My personal desktop is not. So the connection would have to go out over the internet and not be very responsive. That just doesn't seem like the best solutions for me. Probably leaning toward a 4K and driving it using two connection at 1920 x 2160 using PBP. It is just hard to find out which monitors will do it. 1440p is just so close to 4K in price it seems like a waste to buy 1440p.

A lot of the Ultrawide models have this feature actually, you might look at some of the LG 3440x1440 models

I looked at some 3440x1440 monitors, but they are above my price limit. So, I am looking at 1440p and 4K. With I think 4K being the better choice if I can do what I want with it.

It won't. I do it with my laptop that is sitting on my desk next to my desktop. I connect to my laptop with RDC and then VPN to work. There is a policy that will disconnect if the IP changes, but you can reconnect and then reconnect the VPN and it will work w/o further issue.

Anyway again it was just another solution that would be monitor agnostic, having true multiple input would be better for you, but if you can't find one that will do it cheap you could try out RDC.

The cheapest / easiest way to get 2 tall chunks like that is to buy a couple inexpensive 1920x1080 units and turn em up on their side. I run one of my 1080p monitors at work in vertical mode and it works fine. This is even on TN where off angle shift is pretty terrible in that configuration. I'd definitely get IPS for a vertical 1080 screen due to the off angle shift issue, if you went that way. Of course if you can find a 4k monitor that does multi-input split like that, that would be superior.

My QNIX 4K Monitor lets me do this. Are you telling me there are 4K monitors that don't allow this?
I'm scared now...

They may all do it. That is what I am trying to find out. May just get the AOC U2879VF, it seems like a good 4K for $299. If it will do two tall inputs great. If not I can remote into my laptop. Or, just output 1440p to it as a last resort.

Which QNIX monitor do you have? Do you like it? I do like their prices.

Like is a mild way of putting it. I got the UHD3216R.

I love it. It was here in 2 days, bought it off newegg, I'm extremely satisfied.

You have an AMD GPU already if you ever intend to use the freesync for gaming. Also, if you ever upgrade to Vega, you'll definitely be able to enjoy 4K gaming.
Once I saw my desktop though, I was sold. I love 4K.

Edit:
Just watched this in 4K

I really want that Camera now.... the way it captures details is perfect for a noob like me.
