Awesome pic. Too bad you don't have a wide-angle shot of it, otherwise it would be my desktop.

Not exactly the same scene.

The vertical shot was done in the Hancock Tower observation floor. Tripods weren't allowed, plus shooting through glass made things difficult. I didn't think I was going to get any keepers.

Hugin + Enblend, then I used CS2's lens correction feature to make the buildings in the foreground straight vertical instead of the usual leaning building distortion when you take these kinds of shots.

I'm looking for another stitch tool. Autostitch is hit and miss.

With Hugin you can select your own control points. Then stitch into multiple TIFFs, and Enblend can do some adjusting to get the color balance and contrast in all the pictures the same, so no seams.

Thanks all! I wasn't sure whether this pic was ok or not because I personally thought that it would feel too cramped. I wish I could go back to Chicago and try it all over again :)

I've lived in Chicago for 16 years, and even I have the urge to hop on the highway and checkout downtown right now. Those pics are awesome.

Great shot! If I were you I'd get a MASSIVE print of the night skyline shot and have it hanging on my wall. Love it!

Yup yup. I had to handhold these shots because tripods weren't allowed :(

Which skyline? The vertical one of the horizontal one?

WOW

AMAZING picture!

when you first look at it, it almost looks fake, like it was a digital image (not picture) since the detail is so crisp and clear.

EXIF?

Oops, I lied. Just looked at the EXIF and the specs are

30mm
8 sec
ISO 100
f/8

This was probably one of the ones I did using my wallet on the floor as the "tripod" to get the angle I wanted.
