its about 70 feet in the wall, 5 feet from hub to router, and 40 feet from xbox to wall. so do i need another hub in there since the XBOX POS NIC cant handle 100+ feet of cable?
wtf? does microsoft expect people to hook their xboxs straight to the cable modem or what? its called a home network, and if this is seriously the reason it doesnt work, that is annoying.
I recently battled with my Xbox and found only one solution for cable distance: WIRELESS. I had to buy a wireless router (be careful which one I went through 3 before I found an Xbox compatible one. Please email me for a list) and a Linksys wireless gaming adapter. I have also been told that any ethernet to wireless bridge would work just the same. You also might want to try a signal booster or another hub between the wall plate and your Xbox.
ive tried this with a passive and active hub, switch, router, and an old school repeater lol
an active hub is the exact same as a switch when it comes to signal boosting, so if a switch works, an active hub should work. however, nothing works, so it doesnt even matter lol 🙁
this is really annoying. i networked the house and i put 6 drops in...when i go home, i will try to hook it up on different network drops and see if there is just something messed up with the one im trying to use (which sucks...its the only one close to the big TV)
