I finally got myself in gear and finished a case I've been wanting to work on for awhile. Someone here painted his case metallic blue using Rustoleum a while back and I've been wanting to do it ever since. I added neon (license plate frame) for a bit of a blue glow ;)

Since this is my first attempt at painting a case I kept it simple. It's a generic case with an 80mm intake above the CPU and a 120mm blowhole. I'm planning on replacing the power and hard disk LEDs with blue LEDs to dress it up a bit.

I ended up using 2 coats of white spray primer followed by 6 coats of blue (took a whole can :disgust:) and topped off with 2 coats of gloss coat, all Rustoleum. I must say the gloss coat made a huge difference, although it's kinda hard to see the effect in the pictures I took.

Yes painting the drive face plates would make the system look great...but...then he would have a very hard time trading/selling them when it came time to upgrade.

However, painting them black could offer the best of both worlds.
(black drives in a blue case)= Cool setup + When it came time to upgrade, the value of the drives would be slightly higher.

Grill is on the way ;) I've been lucky enough with my fingers so far, but I'm not going to push it!

Yeah, I thought about painting the faceplates of those drives, but the top drive in there is an 8x CD writer, and I'm not quite ready to slap paint on it since I'll be selling it eventually. Who cares about painting the floppy drive but at least this way both drives match. Since taking these pictures I've added a CD-ROM above the writer so I can "backup" discs.

lhampel, interesting idea - I hadn't thought of painting them black. I just might try that on my next system (without CD-RW :p).

BigJon, just wanted to say, "Your case looks great".

If/when you get ready to paint the drives LMK. Painting CDWR, DVD, ZIP & floppy drive face plates can be a bit tricky. (buttons, LEDs, trays & "flaps") But...done correctly looks great. :)
