could of panned out some so we could see the whole desk and not just part of it.......if it didnt say desk in the title i would have thought u were just taking close ups of all your crap

Ulfwald,

The next step would be adding a veneer. My father built plywood desks like that for his office in our garage and he added some very real looking wood veneers. It was simple and fast, only you have to ventilate the work area well as you put it on because the cement gets you high as a kite.

I would love to build a desk like that. If you don't mind me asking how much do you have into the cost of the build? Not like you don't have the space but I would consider getting rid of a few CRT's in favor or a nice KVM. 🙂

since this desk will take a beating because i work on peeps computers all the time, as well as fix up older systems to donate to the local womens shelters/churches/charitys, I am painting it with battleship grey garage floor paint.

I have maybe a total of 250.00 into it.

heh, almost exactly what I was going to do.. minus the raised monitors (i hate that). Just never had the time (nor did my friend, who has all the tools)

I raised the monitors so they would go above the wall shelf that is there to cover the pipes. this gives me a lot more desk space.

Is that whiskey in the Jar'o?

Nice job!

No whiskey, I can't drink because of an allergy to alcohol. It is sweet tea, wife makes the best sweet tea in the world.

I'm a little unclear what is holding all that stuff up? You have 2x4's along the wall, but what about the edge of that thing closest to you, away from the wall? I also don't see any corner support there - does it sag at all?

Are those dumb bells you use to hold up the monitor stand?

Not dumbbells, but 1/2 inch galvanized pipe with flanges.

There are supports under the desk, otherwisw it would hit the floor. 2 21 inch monitoprs, 2 19 inch monitors, and 2 17 inch monitors wiegh a ton, not to mention the battery back ups on the table itself

before I set anything up there, i walked on that desk, and I am at least 350 lbs. (yeah I am a bit overweight). so I know it will hold.

is this another setup for nik to walk in and get pwned again?

(reference from "yes nik this really is my desk" thread)
