Pics of my Antec P180 Build

I know someone's already posted P180 build pics (and did a damn good job at cable management). But I gotta post build pics. I moved from a beige monster to this beauty. A great case despite the front door issue. Antec was kind enough to send me a new one. 😀

So far, the Neo HE 500W PS is flawless. It's fan is quiet and hasn't spun up past low speed yet. I'm using the lower 120m fan to help keep it cool. All 120m fans are set on low.

Optical drives are noisy on spin up. I hope to dampen a bit by lining the 5.25 drive bay and doors with this stuff: Damptek

fj, man. Neat and tidy with some big hardware.
I am drooling.

looks like you skimped on the processor to get a better video card and that raptor, but probably a good choice in the long run.

nice.

Thanks.

On cpu, I try to stay under $250.00. I still have some overhead to OC with a better cooler though. Perhaps soon..

I think it's HVAC tape of some kind. It's aluminum with a strong adhesive. Sticks to anything.

You could've gone with an Opteron 144 for the money, and possibly a 146. (Though the 144 is so much cheaper now than the 146 it almost doesn't make sense.)

For another ~40-50 dollars (on top of the 250) you could've grabbed an X2.

On the whole though, this looks awesome 😀

I bought most components about three months ago. Had in another case. At the time, the San Diego seemed like good bang for the buck. OC's good, and from my understanding, was pretty much the same as the opty's. As always, a couple months brings changes.

Just when I thought I was livin large, cpu insecurity sets in... 🙁

I'll bump it up to 2.7 and all will be better for now... 🙂

Yes it's rev 5. It has thick thermal pads for memory contact, where the earlier version had extended areas of the heatsink to make contact. IMO, direct contact with the heatsink would allow for quicker heat dissipation.

But an easier overall installation makes this rev worth the money. It's got a patch of pre-applied thermal paste for the GPU; and thermal pads self-stick to the memory. The rear bracket is easier to install as well. It's pretty fool proof. As with earlier version, fan is quiet. Gotta get right up to it to hear it running. And then there's the exaust sytem.

The NV Silencer made me look at Artic Cooling's case offerings, and nearly bought one. Non-swappable PS killed the idea:

Silentium T1 Case

I am gonna get an Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 64 however.

Yeah...slap an Arctic Cooling 64 PRO on that baby! You will not regret it.....great performance for the price. BTW-nice job on the rig
