10.1:1 compression. The NA engine can only take ~5 PSI of boost reliably, wouldn't make it that much faster. Also, on the NA models the transaxle is a weak point, upping the power makes it very easy to grenade the ring and pinion. The general consensus is that you need to use a transaxle from a 944 Turbo if you want to turbocharge an NA car.

Mine is an 86 - it's 9.5:1 IIRC.
Yup, I always forget the specific years that the engine changed. I was thinking that the change happened for '86, but it happened for '87. And I was off, 10.2:1 in '87.
