No big deal, but I've made mention of my race truck a few times before, and a couple of people have pm'd me asking for specs or pics.
These are from last year, right after I got the engine back in.
No racing yet this season....since the Earnhardt crash, I've been "forbidden" to race until I get a roll cage....that will happen soon.

Nice pics, nothing beats drag racing.

Hold your mouse over the pics and read the little boxes that pop up :D

You do realize the word domestic means it's made here in America right?

Yeah yeah, I just meant in his case. The word just means indigenous to one's own country.

Dana 60 rear end with 5:57 pro gears
Strange engineering spool
Moser Axles
16x33 M/T slicks (not sure I'm happy with these yet..I had Hoosiers before
and I'm starting to think they were better)
Roll cage and safety harnesses on the
way soon.
Truck weighs 3756lbs without me. A bit over
4000lbs with me.
Est. horspower 640. Once I get to make a
1/4 mile pass, I'll get a more accurate #.
That's probably pretty close, though.

My dad races, maybe I'll get to take a couple of passes this year;) I would say definately go with Hoosier. They are a softer tire and they help us hook up better granted the tires won't last as long but who cares, have fun. Definately get that roll cage, money well spent:). My dad wants to get a new rail soon because this one he says is getting too old:) My mom doesn't think so although.

Is a roll cage needed for 1/4 drag races? I ask because you are going straight so the car isn't really gonna tip over.

Corect me if I'm wrong.

Basically, the slicks on a drag car are running between 5-9lbs of air pressure.(I run 7lbs) Their sidewalls, as you can see in the picture, are thin, so the answer is, yes you have a distinct possibility of rollover. The back end kind of floats around as you accelerate because of the low air pressure. I'm not too worried about hitting the wall when I'm running the 1/8 mile because it's right next to me. I AM worried about a slick blowing out, because that almost surely means flipping. Also, the slicks are so big that if one deflates, the back end has to sink a lonnnggg way.

Actually thats was a good point. Don't nhra tracks require a rollcage for sub 11 second runs? Is ther enot an equivelant rule for 1/8 mile tracks?

Our local track requires helmets if you run under 14.00. And a roll bar if you run under 13.00. Under 12.00 a cage is mandatory. I don't race too often, I am afraid of breaking my rear axle. Axle upgrade is comming along slowly.

My friend used to race his 1979 LRT. Low 14's and bone stock. His '70 hemi roadrunner was brutal. We built that thing in his garage over winter a few years ago. It looked fairly mild, but went 10.50's consistently at the track. Scared the hell out of me.
