[pics] Got a new dog, not getting along with other dog...

We got a new 9 month old Airedale named Bella. We have had a 2 year old Old English Sheepdog, Sophie, for 2 years 😀

Bella is very hyper and likes to play a lot, but Sophieis really laid back and gets mad easily, then they proceed to fight. They get really fierce sometimes and bite each other's face really hard. They have never hurt each other, or drawn blood, but it is aggrevating and I get a little worried sometimes.

Everything I have heard, said that you need to let them fight and allow one to become the dominate one. They are both female, if that means anything.

Sometimes they play nicely, but it usually ends in an all out brawl. Neither one is dominate, and they both "back off" equally. Neither one is always the victor.

I don't really know what to do...

Any ideas? Pics 1

how dare you attempt to use your vast stuffed animal collection to trick us into giving you suggestions on how to get two dogs to be friends

Just let them "play" until it starts to get out of hand and break them up.

Don't hit them, don't lock them up... don't do anything but scare them into breaking them up.

They should learn the boundries soon enough, or they'll adjust to each other being there before they have to worry about that. It's just a dog thing, let them get it out of their system for a bit but stop it before it goes overboard.

Good advice.

One needs to establish dominance. This is normal. Break it up if it gets to rough, but don't punish.

Try not to confuse their hierarchy. For example, if you feed one dog first one day and the other one first the next, they'll get mixed signals as to who has higher standing in the pack. Be consistent.

They have been together for a month now... 🙁

Break out the waterhose on them next time they are fighting, if indoors throw something at them, preferably a large pillow.

Let them know you are the dominate one

Our cats, whenever they play fight, generally end up getting a bit rowdy, but neither one has ever hurt the other and it's just as likely to end up in a licking competition. When they first met they were not quite as cordial, however 🙂

my mother has had cats since I was younger, and they definitely do the dominate thing when they first meet.

It's funny that the 9lb cat who is 11 years old without claws can beat the hell out of the 25lb cat and the 15lb cat, hands down.

My brother-in-law has two outdoor rottweilers and a little terrier, guess who is the boss...

It's kind of funny, the two big dogs have to wait on the little terrier to finish eating before they can get to their feed bowl

terriers= teh vicious breed

feed em away from each other and dont let them play,.eventually one will become dominant. There will be a BIG fight eventualy and best you can hope for is that the oldest dog wins, otherwise they just seem to waste away.
