PICS from the 2006 ATL Auto Show!

Aside from the ga-ga exotics like the F430, AMV8, and Gallardo Spyder, I was pretty "meh" about this year's show. Porsche wasn't there. Neither was Lotus. Not even a Subaru Legacy GT SpecB to be found. The booth babes were not in force, but there were two or three notable hotties.

American car companies: I'll group them all into one category. On the whole, pretty empty show areas. The most people I saw were gathered around the Ford GT like last year. Heck, Saturn didn't even have production models of the Sky on hand. Only roped-off pre-production models. How are they going to sell them like that? Oh, right, people can go sit in the Solstice next door. The Saturn Aura looks promising, though. Otherwise, nothing else needs to be said about the American cars. The coolest American cars there were restored models from the 50s and 60s. (Ford, Chrsysler, Jeep, Buick, Cadillac: all MEH!)

Lexus: The new LS600h is indeed gorgeous. Otherwise, I sat briefly in the IS350 and continued. Interior fit and finish is not on par with BMW's 3-series. Like last year, none of Lexus' cars had power running to them.

Acura: No RDX. So boring, I just walked through without stopping.

Infiniti: From 25 yards away I could see the new G35 on the turntable, but it's so fugly that I didn't even bother getting closer. What I did do was step into an M45 with power to play with the premium audio. Having speakers built into the seats is cool! Nice sound.

Honda: The S2000 is still gorgeous but cramped on the interior. The Civic Si is a real winner aside from the FUGLY interior!!! Otherwise a great motor and tranny by the look and feel of them.

Subraru: Like I said, no Legacy GT. Best they had was a non-GT vanilla Legacy. Nice to see the Special Edition package offers a sunroof for the non-GT.

Mazda: I know everything there is to know about the 3 and Miata. I won't consider buying the latter until Mazda offers HID lights and heated seats for the Sport model. The CX-7 was drawing lots of praise and looks promising for Mazda. The RX-8 is still gorgeous but too bad I hate wankles!

BMW: The Z4 M Coupe is FUGLY! The Z4 M Roadster is much better looking. BMW E60 325i sedan parked next to an E46 330ci Convertible: everyone I spoke to preferred the looks of the older model, interior and out. BMW continunes to slide in my book. Nothing inspired me, aside from maybe the V10 in the M6.

VW: I learned that VW gives you a "Fast" doll if you buy a GTI. Nice marketing! Like Audi, their cars seem so solid!!! Way more than the Japanese/American models. Too bad I know looks are only skin deep. Also like Audi, they just look good inside and out.

Audi: Probably my favorite brand at the moment. RS4 is pure sex!!! Audi A8 is still the most gorgeous luxury sedan on the market. Sadly, no S8 was there. I played in an A6 that had power running to it. MMI is still way better than what BMW and MB offer.

Mercedes: SL-class is still gorgeous, otherwise the brand is plastic crap. I got in the new S550. I got out of the S550. The German hunger for a completely sterile, computer screen & mouse dominated cockpit, is starting to really scare me.

Aston Martin: All of their cars are pure sex. Too bad the AMV8 was in black. Another color would have better showed its sexy body. The sales dude told me 2 of them have been sold in the ATL, one of them wrecked already. What a retard! Otherwise, the ATL dealer is sold out until January 2007.

Maserati: Pure sex just like the Astons.

Ferrari: Who doesn't lust for a track day with an F430? Where can I find $230,000?

Bentley: They make gorgeous cars too.

Lamborghini: Only had a Gallardo Spyder. Nice but give me an F430 instead.

Volvo: Too bad the new S80 wasn't there! Otherwise, I think the brand is looking up.

I listened to premium audio systems from Infiniti, Honda, BMW, VW, and Audi. I still prefer BMW's HK system to the Bose you usually find elswhere. Kudos to them for using someone else. And fvck Chrysler for not running power to their 300C with Boston Acoustics premium audio. I bet they would give Harmon Kardon a run for their money! This year's test CD was Sarah Brightman's "La Luna".

If anyone wants to know, they were taken with my EOS-20D + Tamron 28-75. All images were taken at F2.8. Sorry for the lack of PICS. Just wasn't too inspired this year.
