4 pics i took with my sony dsc-p72 cam

pics are a little blurry cause i used a slow shutter speed (night mode, i really wish this camera was full manual =/ )and didn't have a tripod. so, i had to balance it on the sunroof edge of my car and balance it at the right angle.

so... you people like em? i wanna retake the third one with a lesser exposure compensation (i think i had it on -0.7 or -1.0, wanna try it one setting lower). the 4th pic was just something that i did randomely and was pleased with the effects.

i'll post pics once i get to understand the metering system entirely and play around with more settings. also, maybe a few daytime macros (this camera doesn't do macros too well, or so i hear :()

if you weren't using the timer function on the camera you could do that and reduce blur. probably most of your motion is your finger on the shutter button.

How are the automatic and manual controls?

i'm kinda disappointed that you can't control shutter speeds manually, but i guess i'll have to save up for that all-manual SLR to get that. you have 5 different manual focus settings (0.5m, 1m, 3m, 7m, infinity), 2 autofocus settings (multispot focus, and center focus), exposure compensation from -2 to +2 in .3 increments, a multiple and spot metering mode (the number of points you use to judge), 4 manual white balance settings (linghbulb, flourescent lamp, cloudy, sunny). you can set the ISO speeds to 100, 200, 400, or auto. any of these settings can be toggled in the program mode.

in addition, you can change it to night mode (slowest shutter speed), night mode with focal point (slower shutter speed than normal, used to take pics of people at night), beach mode (faster shutter speed, exposure), snow mode (faster shutter), and panoramic mode (focus on infinity).

any of the first group of settings can be used with the second group. if you don't wanna set anything, you can put it on all-automatic and point and shoot.

the cool thing about the flash is that it has a staggered flash setting, to avoid a glare. it triggers the flash a split second after the shutter is opened, instead of simultaneously. lots of features to play around with.

but like i said, the macros aren't too good (min distance of 10cm without zoom, 50cm with 3x zoom). again, this will have to solved by saving up for the all-manual SLR-body cameras =). i'm pleased with it overall though. got a 128 MB memory stick, and don't look like i'll fill it up anytime soon.

i actually did use the timer function on the tower shots. the highway shots, i really couldn't because of the way the cars arrived. when i retake the pics, i wanna use a tripod and the timer to eliminate all vibrations. (and set it on normal res instead of fine res, as that tries to lighten the dark, making the night sky look all crappy)

heh, kinda... even though dell wouldn't gimme that 30% off, i got them to give me 23% off (15 + the 5 coupon + i persuaded them to gimme another 3)... ended up being like $260, which isn't a flaming hot deal, but not a bad deal either.
