woah! those bugs are fugly. a friend and i were just talkin about these bugs yesterday. thats the first time i found out that these bugs hatch in massive amounts once every 17 years and live for like 2 weeks. what a weird creature. almost went out to princeton to check what the hype is all about

A good thing I've only encounter the greenish ones...

have fun with them! Use sewing thread, tie a leg from each cicada and watch them try to fly away! :cool:

Woah!!!! I haven't seen or heard one this year

And if you're not in the Cicada-know, those peanut looking things all over the ground are the shells that they climb out of (see pic 2 + 3). So crazy.

Woah!!!! I haven't seen or heard one this year

And if you're not in the Cicada-know, those peanut looking things all over the ground are the shells that they climb out of (see pic 2 + 3). So crazy.

I've seen those all my life, used to pic them up as kids and throw them on people. But I thought these things were supposed to be on a 17 year cycle...how come I've been seeing them every year since I can remember?
