Recently built a new pc with the following specs:

asus m5a99x
1100t
8gb patriot g2 series 1600mhz

First attempt booting the memok red led on the motherboard is solid red...hitting this a couple times i get a boot.

Installing windows it restarts to finish and it fails to post again.

Playing musical ram slots randomly gets the rig running.

Few attempts of manually setting the ram at 1.65 as it was running 1.5 yielded a few reboots then all of a sudden it decides not to boot.

So out of a desperate attempt i yank each stick out testing them both out in the same slot and one doesn't boot...the second does.

So on the fence if i got a bad stick or what the story is.

Replace the first stick - the one that doesn't boot. Your fault isolation points to a bad stick, not a bad mobo.

Move the questionable stick to a different slot and see if it still misbehaves. Could be a bad slot on the motherboard.

I've seen both bad sticks and bad slots in my time, make sure you fix the real problem...

Moved the questionable stick from slot to slot with no boot.

Second stick booted in each slot i guess that resolves that.

Thanks for the help everyone:)
