Picky Betta Fish!

We've got this Betta fish that for some reason will only eat Blood Worms and Sea Monkeys. For Betta fish this is junk food. Our guess is that this is what he was fed before we got him!

When we feed him REAL food with shrimp meal or white fish meal, he just spits it out.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Feed him the healthy stuff for awhile and soon or later, he would eat it... I think...

That or coat the junk food in the real meal. Then the fish would have no choice...

You have a very spoiled fish 🙂 I had a beta fish once that actually nibbled on its own fins. These are not intelligent creatures! I agree with Imaginer. Feed him the health food and don't give him the option of the junk. Fish are dumb, but they do have a survival instinct. It's like a kid...they don't want to eat the peas, but you know they have to, so you keep giving him peas until he finally gives in and realizes that he really won't die from eating them.

Fish ARE pretty stupid. Must be THE MOST stupid animals on Earth.

This guy's not too stupid. It's funny to watch him "refuse" to eat. 😉 Patooie!

I like when they see another male or themselves in a mirror and they flare. Cool. Territorial fishies!

I had two oscar fishes once. Both male too. Feed them those little frogs once in a while that show up near out pool when living in Florida. A styrofoam wall had to be made to separate the bickering fish.

In my Anatomy and Physiology class, my teacher bought an oscar fish. One kid bought little goldfishes and placed them in the tank. The oscar fish went rampant over the little fish and the girls in the class were going "poor goldfishes" while the guys are cheering "GO OSCAR FISH!" 😀

Soon, the teacher placed two more oscar fishes in the tank and a little baby one. the baby one had to be separate because he was being picked on. Such territorial suckers!
