Picking up from UPS

I missed a laptop delivery this morning, and since I wanted it by tonight, I gave a call to UPS and asked to pick it up myself.

They told me: someone will contact you in an hour.
OK.

I get a call: the pickup hours are between 7 and 8 pm, but I have to come in at 7pm sharp, sign in my name on some list, they'll do a roll call and give out packages. I have about 10 minutes to complete the pickup.

What the hell is this nazi UPS center? I've picked up missed stuff quite a few times before, but never had this much hassle. Usually I just showed up, and they gave me a package...

Bizarre.

Uh usually they put the thing on your door saying that they missed you, and you can bring it in to get your package.

Wait, did you go to the one near Staples Center in downtown LA? That's how that one is, and I HATE IT.

I hate UPS too. At least they didn't try to charge you $42.77 to receive your package. And at least they didn't charge you a fee for charging you a fee.
