I have a folder containing +20k media files that adds up to a bit over 620MB of data.
On the central server the folder contains 20785 files. But on one of the remote sites the folder contains 20782 files. I really don't want to copy all 620MB just to get these three < 1mb files. But trying to pick through 20k+ files and find which three are missing would be a total pain in the butt too. There has to be a tool that can do this somewhere.

How would ATOT do this?

start at the top with both directories in separate windows, make sure the one at the top is the same in both... delete from both sides. do this until you find the one at the top has a different name from the other.

(dont really, im just kidding)

Two directories with lots of files that are supposed to be the same in each directory. One of them has 2 extra files and the OP is trying to figure out what those two files are.

I'm really happy with Beyond Compare. While, I've never tried it with 20,000 files, it works quite well for comparing two folders or even two files. Then you can manually copy or update files in either direction or with one button, the software will update them for you.

It is a life saver for programming, for keeping multiple computers up to date, or for group writing where one idiot wrote to a Word file when someone else is editing it at the same time and you end up with two edited files.
